Also kurzzusammenfassung:
1. RAM eingebaut
2. RAM "verschmorrt" (roch verbrannt und funzte nicht)
3. Ein Pin etwas angekokelt
4. Vor lauter Leichtsinn wieder reingesteckt
5. Funzt. Aber nur 511 statt 512 MB.
Liegts am Pin? :)

Wohl auch keine Flip-Flops, ich denke du hast im BIOS die Funktion "Systembios cacheable" oder "Videobios cacheable" aktiv. Dadurch wird das BIOS auch ins Ram geschrieben und fehlt dann halt.
