Hallo Supportnetgemeinde,
mein betagtes Toshiba Satellite 4030CDT soll ein Zweitleben für meinen Vater geschenkt bekommen. Ubuntu habe ich bereits installiert (9.10) und hatte ein altbekanntes Problem: Die Bildschirmauflösung wird mit 800x600 dargestellt während ich weiß (Test mit Win2000K) dass das Notebookdisplay 1024x768 kann. "Kein Problem", dachte ich mir "lässt du die Ubuntu 6.04 im Live Mode eine Xorg anlegen und kopierst die Details" (das hatte schonmal bei einem anderen älteren Notebook funktioniert).
Knackpunkt: Auch Ubuntu 6.04 startet mit 800x600 und lässt sich zu mehr nicht überreden.
Um, zumindest meine, die Verwirrung komplett zu machen, hier die Xorg die Ubuntu 6.04 im Live System anlegt:

Alle Werte auf 1024x768 aber nirgends die Möglichkeit diesen Wert zu nutzen.
